In Bangladesh, Kantajeer Mondir is regarded as one of the most exquisite temples. It is a large, nine-tower temple with a very picturesque design that is quite large. Despite its square shape, the center pavilion’s pointed form amply demonstrates its ancestry from Orissan prototypes.
The remaining eight pavilions are octagonal in shape, and their form suggests that they originated from a circle of bambus with their heads bent inward and horizontal cords connecting them at equal intervals.
The temple is made entirely of brick; no stone was used in its construction, and terra-cotta decorations are spread across its surface. This temple was constructed in 1752 AD by Moha Raja Ram Nath, the renowned Jamindar Raja Prannath’s son. Situated on the western bank of the Dhapa river, it is 22 kilometers north of the city of Dinajpur.
