In Bangladesh’s Tangail district’s Dhonbari Upazila sits the old zamindar mansion known as Dhonbari Zamindar Bari. which the locals refer it as Nawab Manzil or Nawab Palace.
This zamindar house, or zamindar clan, was founded in the mid-1800s by the zamindar Khan Bahadur Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury, who was granted the title of Bahadur, Nawab, CIE by the British. He was the first Muslim to serve as a minister in the British administration. In addition, he was the first to suggest that Bengali be made the official language of Pakistan and was one of the founders of Dhaka University.
But a report claims that the zamindari began when the generals of the Mughal dynasty vanquished Ispinjar Khan and Monowar Khan Singh. Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury, on the other hand, is recognized as this zamindar house’s renowned founder. Even yet, his father arrived and made his home here first. He carried on with his well-regarded estate management.
Following that, his descendants have been in charge of everything from the Zamindari era onward, as they are under the aforementioned Zamindari. This zamindar clan member, Muhammad Ali Bogra, served as Pakistan’s third prime minister. Another Syed Hasan Ali Chowdhury served as East Pakistan’s Minister of Industries.
